Dome of the Imam Mosque Isfahan versus E8

Today I’ve found this impressive dome in the Imam Mosque Isfahan. This immediately reminded me the Petrie projection of E8. Both are really espectacular to me. This dome is considered one of the most beautiful domes culminated by Persian artists in the 17th century. Supported on an octogonal structure, it has a dihedral symmetry of order 32. On the other hand, E8 is considered one of the most beautiful mathematical structures discovered in the 20th century.
